🌊 SDI Rescue Diver Certification Course 🌊

Course Overview:

  • Certified open water scuba divers looking to expand their knowledge and skills
  • Advanced adventure divers or advanced divers seeking to advance in their dive training
  • Aspiring dive leaders

Course Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age of 18 (15 with parental consent)
  • Proof of current CPR, first aid, and oxygen (O2) provider certification (where local law permits)*
  • Proof of SDI Advanced Adventure Diver certification, SDI Junior Advanced Adventure certification, or equivalent, or open water diver certification with 15 logged open water dives *Note: CPR, first aid, and oxygen provider courses may be combined with the rescue program by qualified instructors.

In-Water Skills Include:

  • Identifying and assisting a properly equipped skin or scuba diver simulating:
    • Breathing difficulties
    • Tiredness
    • Leg cramp
    • Early panic symptoms
  • Locating and bringing to the surface a scuba diver simulating unconsciousness from approximately 6 meters/20 feet
  • Transporting the unconscious diver 50 meters/150 feet to shore or a boat upon surfacing, simulating in-water rescue breathing
  • Removing the diver from the water, with the assistance of one aide, upon reaching the shore or boat

SDI Rescue Diver Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive emergency planning and execution
  • Safely and efficiently complete all open water requirements
  • Satisfactorily complete the SDI Rescue Diver written examination located in the SDI Rescue Manual with a passing score of 80%, followed by 100% remediation by the Instructor
